Boss Performance Shift Knob Group Buy!

So finally the prototype of my first part is here. It's a multi-piece shift knob with top, middle and bottom pieces. The three pieces thread into each other and can be set up in a multitude of configurations from a two piece knob all the way up to a 10+ piece shift knob if the middle pieces were stacked. The middle piece has the majority of the mass, but fans of a short, round shift knob will love the two piece configuration!

Each piece will be individually anodized so if users choose they can mix and match colors.

I have no price yet as price will largely be determined by how many people are interested but the initial group buy price will be significantly reduced from the final resale price.

Post what colors you want to see, and which configuration you think you'd rock in your ride!

This is the prototype that was just received from my machinist. It will be anodized next week!

very interesting! i think a good assortment of colors would be: red, blue, black, gun metal, bronze, gold, polished, and possibly a regular brushed aluminum is fine too.

I'm interested based on price. I'm tired of all the ball shift knobs, I like the larger ones. Good idea Ben!!!!

There will definitely be some smoothing of the contours on the production version. I'll go by UPS today to throw each of the pieces on their scale, my gunpowder scale only goes up to 30ish grams. The middle piece definitely has most of the heft, but I actually enjoy both configurations of the knob.

Thanks! I'll be sure to post some swatches when I get color samples!

I'll be trying very hard to have a competitive price on these knobs! Unfortunately, the cost of manufacturing is up because of them being multiple parts, however I should be able to bring it down quite a bit with a production run. I plan on designing different top/middle/bottom sections in the future that could be swapped out with the stock parts on user's knobs too! Then with a variety of tops, middles, bottoms and colors to choose from users could truly "build their own knob".

At first glance it looked like you had made them with a weed grinder built into them.

This looks AWESOME! I'm extremely impressed.

BTW, you should get yourself a decent gram scale. Business expense = tax deduction.

    Thank you kind sir!

Unfortunately folks, I was in such a scramble to put my Miata back together yesterday in time for my cruise today that I didn't have time to make it by UPS. I will however, stop by Harbor Freight this week and pick up that scale Adam!

    Here's another pic for y'all.

I have child sized hands. Want me to take some pics with a ruler next to it? It's roughly 3" tall with the middle piece in, 2" tall without it, and 1.9" in diameter.

I picked that one up today. The top is 95g, the middle is 220g, and the bottom is 50g. So 365g in the 3 piece config and 185g in the 2 piece config. The weights will be slightly different on the production models.
