im pretty sure that the NC is a total redesign of everything from previous miatas, so i doubt it would work... if your looking for more displacement do some research on the FE3,(http://www.solomiata.com/FE3info.html) its a nice little motor and can make good torque/hp
If you want a 2.0, you get to overbore a 1.8 BP. The NC engine isn't slightly compatible with components from previous generations.

The NC motor is the Mazda MZR/Ford Duratec. Completely different architecture with solid lifters, chain driven cams, etc.
