I’m with Harry on this one.

I’ve always been intrigued by composite doors, whether carbon or fibreglass. I’m completely behind the idea and their benefits. The potential weight savings are incredible because there’s two, lower center of gravity, the weight is taken out of the middle of the car so there’s no upset in terms of F/R balance, OEM fit, I could go on.

They are two very different cars. Crashing a new 2000kg car vs a 30 year old, roofless and sub-1000kg car will yield very different results. Definitely comparing apples to oranges here...

The fact that Singer keeps Steel doors on their 911’s stands testament to their faith in carbon doors in the event of a side impact. After all, I don’t plan on crashing and I certainly wouldn’t want to regret compromising anyone’s safety if something were to happen..

My conclusion, Composite doors are best used to offset the weight of a roll cage, anything else just doesn’t seem worth it to me

    Love the build though
