Bilstein HD w/FCM 36mm bumpstops & oem springs: review for na miata

This is a feedback after driving the Billies HD for maybe 5k now. Overall this is a good quality shocks, the yellow paint is nice and durable. I paired it with oem springs and a 36mm FCM bump stops. The car rides comfy on smooth roads, but can be a little harsh on bumpy roads. The rebound is a little strong. However, the suspension doesn't jack down. My 36mm bum stops kept that from happening with the help of the increase ride height from the 96 springs. The suspension has a lot of travel which is nice. I did plenty of mountain runs with my miata and the shocks were pretty consistent and durable. My last set of shocks were the koni str t, and I was disappointed with them. The koni str t were a bit more comfy. However, the durability sucked, I received one blown and 10k miles later another koni shock blew on normal commute driving. In addition, the str t shock were a bit on the soft side. These Bilstein HD's can surely take a beating, and custom valving would further improve the ride quality of the car. If your looking for a durable shocks with consisten damping, then Bilstein HD is the one.

I must have accidentally moved the pictures on Photobucket, so I will post these pictures again. This another review of the same suspension after putting roughly 25K on them. Again, I'm still happy with the Bilstein HD's, it hasn't shown any signs of weakness. It's still the same consistent shocks after 1 trackday and 1 AutoX event. Keep in mind that I still commute roughly 120 miles to school a day and do occasional canyon runs. Most of the shocks I bought before only lasted me 10-15k. If I remember, I only paid about $450 for the set of shocks, so I definitely got my money back. In addition, the quality of the yellow paint on the shock is still pretty good, it hasn't chipped and there are no signs of rust around the shock body. The next time I upgrade my suspension, I will buy a set of Monotube shocks again. Thank you for reading.
