I can't remember what the guy said they were exactly now but quoting the receipt it says, "code stored for a intermittent air temp signal high and air flow meter."
They cleared the codes but I'm still only getting around 24-26mpg and the idle is still kind of odd (on the low side) sometimes.
Codes were cleared, but that was back in November. Could those have come back as I didn't change the MAF until just recently?

Apparently I had two bad plug wires. Which I had looked at like three times and noticed nothing. Kind of annoying considering I have new plugs and wires that are supposed to show up from R-Speed today.

But, now is that going to be the only problem?

Going to change oil, tranny and diff oils today.

    R-speed plug wires are good.

What color did you get? [/rice]

I had an R-speed plug wire fail on me 2 weeks ago. #1 wire would not stay on the plug.

The car would spit & sputter until I popped the hood and pushed it back down onto the spark plug. A few miles later it would pop off and the car would run like crap again.

New plugs and wires showed up today after gettig them once again, from R-Speed.

I get the purple ones since I also have purple Samco rad hoses so it was only natural to get the same color again. Plus at the moment they come with free spark plugs.

...and that seems to have been the only problem.
#2 and #4 plug wires were bad. Bloody hell. The most obvious and easiest choice is always going to be the last thing done.

Now I see if the mileage goes back up. I'll be satisfied if I can get 28mpg now.

So new plugs and wires are now on. I finished wrapping the entire crossover tube in heat DEI tape. Changed the oil in the engine, trans and shift turret, and diff. Fixed my short shifter as well. The lower ring delrin ring has never fit right, but I have a new Dremmel and shaved about a third of the bottom off of the ring. Now it all fits correctly...finally. I've had that thing for like five years and only now gotten around to it. The turret should finally not leak onto the cat. And I through in a bottle of Seafoam just to smoke out the neighborhood.

Car seems to be running quite good now.
Thanks for all the help everyone.

Well, except for O'Reilly's Auto. They can choke on a burrito from the Taco Bell next door. They gave me the wrong battery a month ago. Then today, after I had drained the oil of course, noticed that the also gave me the wrong freaking oil filter. That store employees people that can't do a job that someone with a history of strokes and no arms could do.

The old wires lasted probably 30k miles. Which isn't too bad. Not quite as long lived as I was expecting, but they're alright.

Did I mention they were purple and came with free plugs?

Wires are generally decent for about 15-20k.

I'd start looking for vacuum leaks. I had a vacuum plug come off of a port on the back of my cylinder head pop off and it caused similar results. I have since zip-tied all of the vac plugs on to avoid future shooting them off under boost. :-)

Seems the fuel mileage is back up to around 27-28mpg.
This is just driving around town, no highway miles, which would probably bump it up a little.

Still wish it was getting 32mpg like when I first got the thing, but at least it's not totally crap again.

Mileage is back down to 24mpg. Still running rich.

Arrrgh. Should have seen this coming. I can never seem to just fix something and have it be fixed.

    Bloody old cars.

Filled up today. Came out to 22.34mpg

    ...?

Still can't figure out why it's doing this. Don't know that I ever will.

250 miles before it becomes a good idea to head towards the nearest watering hole would be really annoying if I had a commute to deal with.
Not a deal breaker, just a pocket book maimer.

Crazy loud valve tick now too when the car isn't fully warmed up. Don't know if it's just from trying Amsoil or if it's something more.

    ...old cars.
