Ordered a new VC gasket, NGK ignition wires, NGK spark plugs, and RTV gasket maker. Came out to a whopping $47 with a $30 off coupon code on Advance Auto's website...loving how inexpensive it is to fix/mod this thing.

RB exhaust is good, RB springs not so good.

I had that catback on my first Miata and loved it. I've read many times that RB springs are too soft and you hit the bumpstops too much.

Good luck on the rust repair!

Today's project was fun. Valve cover gasket, NGK ignition wires, and NGK spark plugs. Figured i'd paint the valve cover while i was at it. Took the car for a spin afterwards and omg it drives SO much smoother now! No more sputtering on acceleration or feeling like it's going to stall when you come to a stop. The spark plugs were dripping in oil when i pulled them out! Now its nice and sealed.

    Thanks!

Lol i should have. But I started around 5:45pm at my buddy's house. Not enough time to do all that. I only did the VC because i had to take it off and clean it for the new gasket, so i figured i'd kill two birds with one stone. Didn't think about doing anything else. Didn't want extra work

Looks good! Much respect for your long term vision for the car. A saved Miata never lets you down.

Fixed an annoying rattle underneath the car yesterday that turned out to be the heat shield on the cat. Just ripped it off. Also cleaned up the aftermarket clear tail lights and sprayed them red. Today I got a new exhaust hanger as the driver side hanger was stretched and the driver side was hanging lower than the passenger side. Now it's nice and even.

Short clip of the racing beat exhaust with my phone. I'll have to get a good video with my gopro attached to the car!

Crap, that's terrible. I would never try to unrice any car just because of this. I admire your gusto though. It's going to be great after returned to stock.

So i've been checking craigslist every few days looking for Miata fenders with no luck. Just happened to check today and found an ad for some miata parts...one of which was a driver side fender...asking $79 for it. I texted the guy and offered $50 for it picked up asap. He said done! Haha so i went over there, dude owns like 3 Miatas. He buys cheap miatas and flips them or sells for parts. He liked the front bumper on my car...i told him if he has or can find an OEM front bumper, we can do a straight trade. He said yes! So he is going to contact me as soon as he gets an OEM bumper. He also said he has a hook up with a body shop (used to work there or something) and said he can get my rusty rocker panels cut out and new sheet metal welded in, cleaned up and primed for paint for about $200 for both sides!

The fender is pretty clean. NO rust, only a small dent i can tap out. Other than that, ready to mount. I already have the passenger side fender that I am picking up from a friend on Monday for $40 perfect condition, no work needed besides paint. Almost back to OEM! Just need to fix the rust, then the car can be painted!

Tapped out the dents and scraped off/sanded flaky paint off the red fender. Pinstripes also removed. Now Ready for primer. Picked up the blue fender tonight. Just have to tap out 2 small dents on that one. Will have both on the car on Friday.

Also decided on what wheels i want! Diamond Racing SC series 18x8 +0 fronts and 18x10 +12 rears
