    1997 R package Miata options

    what options were availible with the 97 R package. Wondering if any of the 47 total made are AC cars

    As far as I know, AC was never a factory option on an R Package car. The point being, and R Package was meant for racing, and AC was counter to that (as was power steering, and power windows).

    1997 R Package

    The R package was a $1500 option package and not a special model

    Equipment: Sport Suspension (Bilstein shocks, heavy-duty rear springs, heavier sway bars), rear spoiler, front air dam, rear skirt, alloy wheels, Torsen limited slip differential The R package was not available with power steering, automatic transmission or Popular Equipment and Leather option packages

    Optional: air conditioning, hardtop (dealer installed only)

    Production: 47 made

    Base MSRP: $20,625 plus $450 freight, plus options

    Brochures: The R Package was described in the 1997 sales brochure
    1992 BnT, 93LE #737, 94M, 95M, 96M, 97PEP, and a few 90s

    Pretty sure that you had to pay Extra for A/C, and Extra if you wanted the radio.

    AM/FM/Cass was standard on the "R", the only option from the factory was AC, A hardtop could be sold and installed at the dealership level only.
