Installed a new PCV valve grommet and broke a likely 184K mile, 20 year old, OEM PCV valve. It still worked, thought I could get away with reusing it and the old vent hose... which was a wee bit less flexible than preferred. So, I had the PCV valve w/ hose attached plugged into the cam cover, and as I was attempting to flex the hose on to the intake barb... *EXPLOSION*... as the PCV valve shattered in half.

Guess while still functional, it wasn't optimal as it must have become quite brittle from age and all those heat cycles. New PCV and vent hose already ordered. Lesson learned, the hard way. as I had to remove the half of the PCV valve still in the cam cover piece by piece.

Oh, and if wondering why a new grommet? The old one ripped when removing it to prep the cam cover to make it look pretty. More on that later.
