Downunder had a grand total of 55 Malibu Gold MX-5s (aka Sunburst Yellow), as imported by Mazda Australia. All built in late 1991 and imported/registered in 1992. All were manual. All came with factory CD player in addition to the radio/cassette. While all came from the factory with black cloth trim a number were updated with a red interior including red leather seats. I believe this was done to try move the last few from the dealers. All came with electric windows and alloy wheels, but then again all MX-5s in Australia have these. While I have seen one or two Malibu Golds with hardtops they are fairly rare overall.
