Wink New to the forum from NV, not exactly new to Miatas

    Just sayin' hello.

I've had NA Eunos Roadsters, MX5s and now Miatas (depending on where I lived) off and on for about 12 years. Currently on #4, which I'm building to be a trackable warm rod, although my plans have been known to change halfway through!

I don't have easily accessible photos of the earlier ones, but here are a couple from the last two years of the current car.

The earlier cars were one of the earliest MX-5s sold in the UK that IIRC was bought back by Mazda (via a broker), a '92 Eunos Roadster V-Special (aka the BRG special edition) that wasn't in such good shape and finally another silver Eunos that had been turbo'd by what a friend of mine tends to call a "forum egg spurt". That was a neverending headache so when I moved over to the US I vowed I'd start with a stock car so I only had to fix my own mistakes. Well, almost...

This photo was taken about a year ago, at that I point I've had it for a little over the year and had mainly caught up on the deferred maintenance, plus I was running MSM suspension and swapping between the stock seats and a couple of "mail order Bride" seats, depending on if I was running the car on the street or the track.

At the Miatas at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca event last year - I scrambled to get it halfway done and it wasn't running that well (plus it shed some wheel weights on the way down so it was shaking itself to pieces):

Currently sporting a little bling under the hood, although that's going to go if I keep the car and either go forced induction or a later engine with ITB:

And finally, today's job, fit a decent, slightly smaller steering wheel:

I would be interested in seeing your BRG... I am always interested in the European Roadster V-Special. Being that that was a '92, that car's production was never grouped in with the 1991 BRG Special Editions correct? I ask because, the 4000 (under 4000 I know) '91 BRG cars made were worldwide, or just in the USA? Canada offered the Miata in a BRG until 1997, but not with the tan leather interior.

Looks like I was mistaken on the year of the V-Special I had - according to the Eunos Roadster model list over on MX5OC, it would have been an '89 as it definitely was a 1.6. I don't think the V-Specials were counted against similar special editions available outside of Japan. I don't think I have any photos of that car, I would have owned that around 2001, which predates my digital camera days. And TBH, it wasn't a particularly good condition car - it had a crappy respray (JDM respray, though ) and the interior was pretty worn, but it was also one of the cheapest ones I could find at that point that wasn't a complete heap.

And yes, I'm trying to build the current car to be used properly , mainly for track fun and a little fun in the mountains, but still comfy enough to drive to places like Laguna Seca. It's not quite as nice as it looks like in the pictures, the PO replaced most of the front end sheet metal thanks to some damage from both towing it behind an RV and an unplanned off road excursion. He did an OK job but if I keep the car for another few years I'll probably address that. Fortunately even good quality parts are cheap for these.
