Post SOLD OUT 25th AE Miata

Mazda's special MX-5 Miata sells out in a flash

All it took was 10 minutes for Mazda to sell out of the entire allotment of 25th anniversary edition MX-5 Miatas.

Miata has been hyping the sale of 100 MX-5 Miata 25th Anniversary Edition models ever since the New York Auto Show in April. Its microsite started taking orders at 1:25 p.m. ET Tuesday and within 10 minutes, poof, all were claimed.

The site took orders from 250 would-be buyers. The first ones to complete the paperwork will get the cars, says spokesman Octavio Navarro.

"It is no secret the MX-5 Miata 25th Anniversary Edition is a specially-crafted 'Thank you' to every MX-5 fan — former, current and hopefully future," Jim O'Sullivan, CEO for Mazda North American Operations, says in a statement. "Enthusiasm surrounding the MX-5 since its debut in 1989 has been nothing short of phenomenal."

The cars won't arrive in dealerships until later this summer. Each one is numbered, and we checked out 0000 last week in Malibu, Calif. Each was priced at $32,205 for the manual transmission. Buyers also get a fancy Swiss watch.

    future collectible??

I still think the low mileage NA models will be more desirable for the collectors. I think there are quite a few Miata "Collectors" that live in the northeast, Ive heard of car shows where they grade on how "Stock" they are, they even grade tires and such. Anyone here go to those events or have been to those events in the past have info? Just being curious.........

Maybe in another 25 years. At least as a selling tactic by some. I saw a local CL ad using a first year car's age as a selling point. Oh boy, it can be considered a collector's item since it's 25 years old... even though there is absolutely nothing special about a basic NA that makes it stand out from other NAs. If anything, the SNC makes it worth less (IMO). I feel that the only Miatas that have any collector value are the one year only color cars with mint OEM paint and a mint '93 LE. Miatas sell too well and last too long (both good things) to ever be true collector cars.

yep I agree, the 93LE, 95 Merlot, 91BRG, Suburst Yellow, 99 Evo Orange, and 10AE and MSM seem like they would be the top picks for collectors.

I have a 2014 PRHT Club and this just feels like a rebadged club model.

It looks nice don't get me wrong but I think they should have done something significantly different to make it extra special.

And the cream interior...not feeling it.
