NB MSM brakes on NA, has anyone here done it?

After getting my sweet Advantis Storm S1 15X7, forum member SCannon (Skip Cannon), has made me a sweet deal, on a set of NB MSM brakes. The wheels will clear it, no problem.

Question, has anyone done it, and if so, how did you like them. A turbo, among a few other things are in the cars near future, so the extra braking capability will be needed. That and canyon carving around here, is not like road driving back home in Tampa.

    So what say you?

do you know if the brakes will clear your new wheels? I would image so, but those MSM came factory with 17 inch wheels so im guessing the brakes are much larger than the ones on your 1994?

^Good-Win Racing says in his website, that the wheels will clear ALL NA/NB factory brakes. Key word, ALL!

Aren't MSM brakes just NB sport brakes?

^ I don't know. Still, they'll be bigger than my NA brakes.

I am curious to know if you would need the sport brake / mazdaspeed brake booster.

Yup. In Revision 1 of my NB's brakes I upgraded from the standard 1.8 brakes to the NB Sport brakes. It was a very noticeable increase in braking capability (both setups had EBC Greenstuff pads) and came without upgrading the master cylinder. However a master cylinder upgrade will certainly allow you to use the brakes to their fullest potential.

The Sport Brakes use a different length line set on all four corners. If you don't have them, you'll want the stock lines that match the brakes or purchase the correct SS lines for about $100 or so.
*edit* Seems places like 949 and Goodwin now stock lines that are compatible from 90-05, so disregard that last part.
I've got a lot less horsepower - luckily they are Japanese horses - usually in better shape and more motivated.

Mazdaspeed brakes = NB Sport brakes. I have them on my 91 along with the 1992-1995 Mazda 929 1" master cylinder, non-ABS Sport booster, Flyin' Miata brake line splitter, a Wilwood adjustable prop valve, and 949 Racing stainless lines. It stops. Fast. Never achieve brake overheating at the track, either.

The part number for the 1" master cylinder is M390107. You can find them on ebay for about $120 manufactured by Dorman. Bewm.

As a note, the 1.6 booster WILL NOT fit the larger master cylinders. You'll need a 1.8, sport, or Mazdaspeed booster as well. Check Partsgroup for a used one, I picked mine up for a ridiculous price shipped.
