Had that happen to me 25 years ago in a 67' F-150. Not a good feeling, especially since it was my buddies truck.
You can scrunch down to look ahead if anyone is wondering.

    Never forgot to close it

Hood latch did not have a catch lock (from previous accident). So when It failed.. it failed with no fail safe.

I have a feeling my AWR engine mounts had something to do with it actually.. Which is hilarious.

I had something not as severe as this happen. Apparently my Koyo oem radiator replacement is about 1/8inch taller than the oem one. My jackson racing intake made slight resistance contact with the hood. When I closed the hood I guess it just barely latched. I got on the highway for miatas at the gap last year. Hood popped up, but the safety latch caught it. Scared the piss out of me. I have since adjusted the jackson racing intake to fit better.
