    New Guy

    Hello,

New guy to the Miata world. Not new to forums or Mazdas. I own a 2006 Mazdaspeed6 and am very active on MSF and a few other Mazda6 forums. Recently (Saturday) ran into some issues with the speed6 (again). This time I was not as prepared as i was last time (2 years ago). So i needed a new daily asap. Decided a Miata was cheap and reliable and still fun and insurance is crazy cheap. Gonna be rocking this until i figure out what to do with the speed6.

I am from Northern Virginia, living in Alexandria.

Looked at a 1996 Miata with 109k miles today. Carfax report says it is an M-edition...but it does not look like it...discrepancy in titling? Not sure...Anyways I talked the owner down to a reasonable price. Going to the bank tomorrow to get the cash and then bringing the Miata home. It needs some cosmetic work, which is the least of my concerns. Mechanically it seems good to go. Seemed solid on the test drive. I will do an oil change, trans fluid change, and maybe brake fluid change Asap.

Look forward to making this a fun toy/daily for now.

Welcome to Mazda Roadster! If the car you are looking at doesn't look like this...

    and have this interior...

Then it's not an M Edition. That being said, you shouldn't pay for an M Edition. I have seen my share of dealers that state the car is a "Special Edition" or "M Edition" just to dupe the uneducated buyer. I would say, a non M Edition, with those miles, and in average condition, might sell for $2000-$3000. Good luck with your search, and don't be afraid to post up some pictures before you buy... maybe we can help you get the best one!!!

    -Cheers,

    Jim

I've seen this too and I've been wondering how these guys don't get caught on false advertisement or false representation of the cars.

Thanks, I figured it wasn't an M edition...just thought it was weird that it says so on the Carfax report. I'm picking it up tonight. It doesn't look too pretty right now, needs a paint job but other than that it's pretty solid. Paying $3k for it; talked the guy down from $3.5k.
