Why is my 96 hood steel?

Did some cars come with steel hoods or is this the sign of an accident?

They were all aluminum..........not necessarily an accident, it could have been dented from hail, rocks, mad girlfriend......

aftermarket, non-oem replacement. A sure sign to check around the front clip for signs of repaired damage.

Looking around front radiator supports, everything looks straight.

Mine is steel as well. I almost threw someone else's OEM aluminum hood onto the windshield the first time I lifted it because it was so unexpectedly light.

My PO's son had an accident involving one of those water filled basketball hoops, and a steel hood was the result.
