Installing a MOMO hub adapter on a 96 Miata

Trying to install this hub right now and I honestly don't see how this is supposed to fit. I was told it would work with any Miata 1989-1997 but this connector is in the way and doesn't even let me get it onto the splines. Do you know how I can make this fit?

Yes it will fit, you will have to carefully remove the connector plug cover to install ANY hub adapter.
