    Cool Adam's NB1

Hey there, my names Adam and I got this 2000 LS 5spd at just over 44K miles on 12/1.

Completely stock with very minor cosmetic wear and a healthy motor, woo! Babied it home 120mi with air in the clutch line and cleaned it up well. I learned how critical maintenance is from my NA. I didn't neglect it but I bought unnecessary things instead of preventative maintenance so the very next day I changed the oil; at 60K I'll give her a major tune up. That same day I put my Konigs on that I bought for the NA, resulting in them being a bit undersized at 15":

The battery wouldn't hold a charge, had to get push started a few times, more IOUs. haha I replaced it and got reimbursed by the dealership.

Fast forward a few days I was headed home from work, (Korean slave camp fyi) and the CEL came on. I was really disappointed on the way to AutoZone to have it checked. Code showed EGR excessive flow, dodged a bullet I thought. Researched and found I needed to clean my intake manifold/TB and EGR to fix it. Well I didn't take pictures but with the help of my Dad I cleaned both, bolted it all back up; cranked it and it idled like crazy, fluctuated from 2,100 to 3,000 crazily. Checked for vacuum leaks, nada; adjusted the idle screw for now but I need to clean my IAC thing one o these days.

Another day headed home I saw a log truck headed my way and I just knew it, sure enough something flew off and chipped my windshield. Crap. Will replace it eventually, too.

So that's how she sits at the moment, I like it but I ain't sure if I'll keep it. I first fell in love with the NAs, read all I could bout them for like 7 years til I got one and nowadays I can't help but feel I belong in an NA. Maybe I'll keep this stock for a bit and save for a mint NA to enjoy instead of fixing it every day. Or get a major project and make it all my own, I have no idea; I'm a bit indecisive but I'm learning which is fun.

Thanks for stoppin' by, comments are more than welcome. ;)

    An old path

I was right, NAs are for me. My Mom wants a new car anyway so she's gonna take over payments on the NB. Sucks I had to get this one and lock myself into a contract to realize I belonged in an NA but I was itchin' for something new and thought I'd enjoy a more luxurious Miata, nope.

So we're gonna fix my first car, a '94 triple black base model:

    It needs a good bit...
A slew of dents will be fixed, I need to source another hood, we are gonna rebuild the motor and have the trans rebuilt locally, and I got an Exedy OE clutch waitin'. That's the major stuff.
On the plus side, it has a new top, windshield, slave cylinder, whole brake overhaul, and no rust!

Goal is a very good looking, retro-themed, undoubtably reliable car.

Did you have an NA at first? My NB just bored me to tears and I missed the pop-ups.

Gonna put the 2000 wheels back on and still run on the daisies on the NA for the time being (run as in be pushed about the yard and into the shop x amount of times). Once I get her running right and all I'll probably put the Candies on til I save for my next set of wheels.

Also afc your car is one of a few inspirations, my car will end up a clash of your and 'a domomo''s car.

Thanks for the kind words. Hard to believe my project has inspired others to mod their cars.

Anyway, what are you driving in the meantime? The NB?

Mainly my truck, murdering me on gas though.

Just had to replace the ball joints on it, $90 not towards the Miata. Truck could use a set o tires, too. Prioritizing sucks!
