Radiator Drain Plug 1991 Miata

Bought first Miata about a month ago, a 1991 Red with Black rag top, 34,400 actual miles...drives like a new car.

So, wanted to change the coolant in it ... pretty straight forward ... found the drain in middle of the radiator bottom tank...Phillips Screwdriver to open. Opened until coolant began draining into pan... emptied radiator. Upon reinstalling or retightening the plug... NO PLUG!!! Not in the coolant, not in the bottom engine compartment pan, not on the ground... OReilleys, NAPA, Advanced Auto parts... "we don't carry that."

I found a metric bolt to temporarily replace the OEM plug but it's iffy at best. Where do I find what fits this plastic tank drain hole??

OEM radiator? Try a junkyard or pick & pull, or a local with a grungy radiator they are throwing out

With the help of Import World, Stillwater, Okla., I found a radiator drain petcock that will fit my '91 Miata. They had a bowl full of any number of designs...took two home and the first one I tried fit and sealed everything.
