    Proper Soft Top Maintenance

    Hey guys

This is my first convertible car and I want to take every measure I can to make sure I take care of the soft top.

My car is a 1996 NA8C with the previous owner storing the car for almost 10 years and only drove it 2000kms since he took delivery of it 10 years ago. Thus, the soft top still looks pretty good as does the rear plastic window.

My car is garaged every night but what is the best way to take care and look after the soft top? Any products I can use to increase the longevity of it as well as prevent/slow the inevitable yellowing on the rear plastic?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers!

I take it is a vinyl roof, right? Autoglym and Renovo make special cleaning/protecting products that most people trust.

The biggest factor in preserving your top is to keep it away from the sun. RaggTop makes a cleaning kit for vinyl/cloth soft tops. You can get it just about anywhere. Installing a new soft top can be tedious and tiring, especially by yourself. I'm glad I did mine a few weeks ago.

my car is usually garaged and i try to park it undercover when outside. How often would i need to apply/reapply the protectants or is it on an as needs basis?

Maybe once a month, you can probably push it off later, since you car doesn't see the elements on an everyday basis.
