    Fluids for NA8

    Hey guys

so I just got my NA8C and as with all my previous vehicles, first thing I do is a full fluid flush and replace it with fresh new fluids.

Just wondering what people would recommend in regards to :

    Engine Oil
    Gearbox Oil?
    Power Steering Fluid
    Coolant
    Clutch Fluid
    Brake Fluid

    Thanks

-Engine Oil- Shell Rotella T6 or any good synthetic oil
-Gearbox Oil- Redline 75w/90 or similar synthetic
-Power Steering Fluid- any synthetic ps fluid
-Coolant- i don't think brand is important but using distilled water to mix and a good ratio for the climate and a additive like Redline Water Wetter or equivalent
-Clutch Fluid/Brake Fluid- Motul rbf600 or similar synthetic brake fluid

Thanks for the super quick reply Greasemonkey!

Re: Engine Oil, did a google and it shows viscosity to be 5W40? What is the OEM viscosity rating? I was thinking of using Penrite HPR10 10W50?

Re: Gearbox Oil, how many litres/quarts would I need?

Re: Coolant, is the additive necessary? How many litres/quarts would I need for that? And what is a good ratio for coolant/distilled water?

Re: Brake Fluid, again how many litres/quarts would I need?

    For points 2, 3, 4:

Gearbox oil, 2 quarts. I'll second Redline.

Coolant; additive is not necessary, but a good idea. Check compatibility with your coolant though. 50/50 is a good suggestion, albeit I normally go for 40/60 (coolant to distilled).

Brake fluid, 1 liter should be enough to refresh the whole system. I used to use ATE super blue, might switch to Typ200 (golden-colour super blue). RBF is excellent but needs more regular flushes.

For the gearbox oil, Which redline product? THere is a GL-4 and a GL-5? both are 75w90 but not sure which I should use?

And is the Redline power steering fluid a synthetic fluid?

Gearbox is GL-4 (Redline MT90 I believe), GL-5 is for the diff.

I am running mobile 1 0w40 in mine, and 75w90 royal purple gl5 in the gear box and rear end. Coolant kind of depends on your climate, generally a 50/50 mix of and Ethelyne glycol coolant and distilled water (distilled water doesn't have the minerals in it that can lead to future cooling system problems or aid in the electrolysis process) is fine for our cars and seeing that your location is somewhere pretty warm you could run a more diluted mix if you wanted to. For brake and clutch fluild, Dot 3 is fine for both, or if you want the added protection of higher boiling point dot 4 can be used as well for a little more cost.

I was under the impression that GL5 fluids are attacking bronze, and therefore the sunchros on a gearbox; might be wrong though. Dot 4 worth the extra money IMO, I prefer ATE Type 200, as the performance to cost cannot be beaten.
