Looking great! Do you by any chance know the colour code that was used on your wheels? It looks stunning, would love to use it on mine as well if you do not mind!

Its a color not on RAL chart - I will try to find out exactly what it was.

These are the two plastic paints I used, Color Coat 15113 FireThorn Red and 15273 Napa Red. These are also the same two colors its seems everyone gives a try and has the same observation I had. One is too dark and one is too light. If you search posts on painting the LE plastic you will find a lot of frustrated posts and reviews ending with "I just went with it" etc.

This is 15273 Napa Red by itself - too dark

This is 15113 FireThorn Red by itself - too pinkish

One too dark and one too light? Hmmm...

Spray these two colors together - one can in each hand, start and stop spraying off the piece, sweep uniformly across the part with both sprays aimed at the same spot - and you get the perfect color. They mixed just fine. I did two light coats and a third normal coat. Admittedly, spraying two colors at once was a last ditch try to hit the color but it worked almost as if designed to be that way, its idiot proof and repeatable. All my parts came out the same exact color and matched the LE plastic samples I had. I even resprayed my LE plastics in this color.

This picture shows how close the final mixed color is to the factory LE plastics

How many cans did you went through? They are only available in the US, from what I see, and I don't want to experiment with something different? 2-3 of each would be ok?

I believe 3 of each would do the whole interior Inc the dash.

Also get the plastic prep spray. The plastic is cleaned (isopropyl alcohol) then sand, prep spray, sand, prep spray then the colors go on. The prep spray promotes adhesion by softening the surface of the plastic slightly.

I think the stainless console looks great with a red interior. Why change it?

I seem to remember starting this thread.... and now to contribute:

Tried the meatballs, but they just didn't look right on the car; too much contrast to the "True Red" paint.

I'm now thinking rocker stripes... but need to figure out a color.
2012: Purchased Miata, Laid off 3 days later. 4th place overall (default!), NWOR SCCA (RTR)
2013: Budget RTR build, massive increase in participation, 3rd place overall, NWOR SCCA (RTR)
2014: Suspension and more active competition in STS. 3rd place overall, NWOR SCCA
2015: Time for some "form" and vintage styling (while still racing NWOR, of course).

I'm shooting for an interior look that could roll right out of the factory in the 1960's. Almost plain or OEM plus. The stainless panel is attractive but discontinuous with everything else going on.

I think it would be cool to get to the point where the interior look is so homogenous that someone might look at it and think "that would look good modded" but with everything already customized from stock. Sort of hard to explain and plan but I'm getting there step by step.

Wasn't sure a smurf could credibly pull off vintage but have been inspired by this thread and so many of you to chase that direction. Finally receiving and installing the rest of my Nakamae interior parts made for an incredibly satisfying weekend and perhaps finally warrants a post on this page. Cannot say enough good things about the Type R's!
