Ok here is a little update:

    * Checked JR header for any visual leaks - nothing. (might take off my Monsterflow CAI, and go back to the stock airbox* so I can actually hear if there are any leaks)
    * Put a brand new Magnaflow cat on - no change.
    * Changed out the TPS from a low milage miata (did not go by the book to correctly adjust the TPS, is it detrimental?)
    * Took off the midpipe to weld any possible leaks on the resonator.

After all of the changes I am still experiencing low accelerating / bogging / and knocking.

Next thing I may wanna try changing are park plug wires and plugs.

I also got some error codes now!

    P0120 - TPS error
P0510 - closed throttle position switch.

Same here, but either your TPS is faulty or it wasn't installed right.

Me too, when my miata isnt running right i get pretty obsessive on getting it fixed. Usually i get it figured out within a week. But i got a few more things to change out... im practically heading towards bringing my car back to stock just to find out what da hell is going on! I swear every year there is something new. I really need to learn how to properly adjust my tps.

So i went to pickn pull and grabbed a few compatible tps' that came off of different cars. I checked rock auto and wrote down which cars have compatible tps. Either way, is it pretty easy to use a volt meter to tell if the tps is still working or not? I really still cant believe that the tps has the potential to cause this bogging issue!

Oh yeah of course, you must use the voltmeter with 0.012/0.016 feeler gauge to calibrate it, for 94+. I thought that's what you did. The TPS lets the ECU know your throttle position. These cars are getting old, I agree every year something unexpected happens. I've replaced just about everything excluding the motor. I still have to save up for a rebuild LoL.

After nearly a month of changing out part after part I am super happy to announce that my friend finally figured out what was causing the hesitation and very rough running engine. It was bad / failing fuel injectors, god damn it all!

After changing out the IACV, TPS, coil packs, spark plugs, spark plug wires, cat, welding the midpipe and countless hours of diagnosis and headache. I was just about ready to throw in the towel and bring it to a miata specialist.

Thank you everyone for all the help and support!

well, at least you now have a bunch of new stuff that shouldn't go bad for a longlong time!

Glad you fixed it, and thank you for actually posting the solution to the problem!

Glad to hear you found the problem. Going to get my injectors cleaned/rebuilt on my next day off since I'm still having acceleration problems.

I'm having a similar problem to this. But my problem doesn't include rough idling or anything of the sort. My car idles fine but in low rpms when I ask the car to shift it hiccups and almost feels like misfires. It's only if I'm low rpm and I open the throttle up while driving. After about 2000rpm the hiccuping stops and it drives normal. If I'm stationary and I Rev the car, I don't have any issues. I thought it was a spark issue so replaced the plugs, the ht leads look brand new so I left them, although they could be the culprit. I had a suspicion it could be the coil pack but if it was, in my opinion it wouldn't be a phenomenon restriction the first 2000rpm. My next step was injector cleaner and see if that helps. After that I think vacuum hunting and parts servicing. Doesn't anyone else have any insights as to what it may be?

    Thanks in advance
