    Greetings from Florida

Hello everyone from a mechanical engineer, retired and living in North Palm Beach, Florida.

Been driving a Miata since 1993, when my red '68 MGB was replaced by a red '91 Miata which had about 12k miles on the clock.

That Miata went to and from work (at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft out in "the swamp") until late in 2012.

It had been driven about 225k miles when it was replaced in 2014 by a red 2012 PRHT.

The "new" Miata also had about 12k miles, but miles are being added to it at a much slower rate these days.

Our current primary car came with a backup camera and I like using it, so I'm trying to learn if and how others have mounted a backup camera in an NC Miata.

Hoping for some advice, preferably with pictures.

Ron, glad to hear you got nearly a quarter million miles out of your last Miata before getting your new hot rod. I'm not sure how many folks here have an NC much less attempted to install a rear view camera but if you feel like driving up to Port Charlotte, I'd be more than happy to lend a hand.

    Welcome!

Are you looking to add an aftermarket HU with a camera option or do you want to do a rear view mirror with integrated monitor for the reverse cam? I looked at a few options for our touring estates.

I'd prefer a backup camera system that uses the rearview mirror for its monitor, but I'd be OK to go with a small separate monitor.

Mazda describes the rearview mirror in my Miata as "AUTO DIMMING REARVIEW MIRROR WITH HOMELINK".

I've programmed it to control our garage door opener.

If a rearview mirror is available which can do that but also includes an integrated monitor for a backup camera, I'd sure like to buy one.

My basic question, though, remains this:

I don't know the best way to install the camera part of a backup camera system on my NC Miata. If anyone has done that, can they show me (pictures much appreciated) how they have installed their backup camera so that their Miata remained leak-tight?

I think one of our local guys was looking into this and found a wireless camera with rear view mirror screen with garage door opener. Hasn't bought it yet but he's researching it: http://gearheadsmiataclub.net/vB/sho...5721#post45721
