Sure makes you feel puny, huh?
Just a few weeks ago I got to take one of our local member's LS6 Miata to a track over in Alabama, it was supposed to be a 2 hour drive each way but he was in his M3, so we got there slightly faster than that, and I got to take it on the track as well. They are ridiculously fun and fast!!! After we returned I got back in my car to go home and about cried. lol
I've got a lot less horsepower - luckily they are Japanese horses - usually in better shape and more motivated.
You can easily lose your love for the high-winding lil four banger and start obssessing about more power.
Yeahhh... i didn't "get it" until i rode in FM's Targa Miata...
Then i "got it." I still don't think i'll do one, but i sure know what the fuss is about.

If I just had the money. I see these guys getting new aluminum LS motors then even higher perforance parts or turbos for them, electronics, rear end etc. and it all looks so great but in the back of my mind, I'm tallying the $10,000-$20,000 cost involved when it's hard enough just buying a gallon of gas.
I wish there was a V8 budget-build thread with a lot of hand holding for total noobs.
Dude I'm sure its the same as that VR6 miata in our club. It is scary fast in those things and going back to a stock miata is boring. Hence why I have vowed to not get in any fast miata till I get a turbo. While the V8 power is awesome, it just seems too much for the car. I think its awesome, and its amazing that someone can accomplish it. Yet, being able to spin out the wheels in 2nd gear rolling scares me.
1990 Miata, she was red but now she is Spirit Green!

Also check out the facebook page http://www.facebook.com/IHeartFlippyHeadlights !!! Its a facebook page dedicated to the awesomeness which is flippyheadlights! Not me, but the actual headlights! High time someone noticed how awesome these things are; check it out!

VRT miata, that sounds unreal. Volkswagen's vr6 motor to me is one of the best sounding setups, obviously that is my opinion.
Is John on this forum?? He stopped by my house last year to check out my progress and brought a picture book of his build
hmm. I think if someone had the know-how to make the subframe for the engine, the driveshaft adapter, and the rear diff mounting pieces a lot of the cost would be chopped off. Not to mention custom driveshaft and axles (I guess places could make you these..)
The engine price varies a lot depending on year/displacement/new/used, same with the tranny but the rest of the kit is your average persons fixed cost for a build.
I bought the kit pieces because I knew they would work. I didn't want to be fooling around fixing mistakes made with homemade stuff... Ya know? The little stuff will nickel and dime you... Like all the fuel line fittings lol.
