Don't see anyone talking about SSRs or Watanabes?

Regarding the offset of a 15x8, at +28 and less, I would roll the lips. I dont think I would cut. You will want the extra material for strength.
Clearance at that size and offset depends on tire width and suspension settings. Rolling the genders will allow you more margin of error and allowance to get aggressive with all those variables. Just my $.02

I see so many beautiful rims on these cars when I google images but find them mostly way too heavy and THAT is most important to me cuz it affects handling so much. I wish I could find this one rim I saw on pintrest, it was slotted with a knock off center much like a Ferrari Daytona very cool. I like the first two its a toss up.

"You have a wide aesthetic range in the wheels you have posted so far. Perhaps some clarity on the intention or purpose might be helpful?"
==================
I want some new wheels and tires for street use that could perform well on the twisties and maybe a track day. I want 15 x 8 lightweight wheels with a good look.
The lightweight requirement is limiting the choices. But I am trying to stick with that requirement.
I dislike everything bronze, gold, black, etc unless it has a machined lip. I do like chrome. I looked at the Enkei "Special Brilliant Coating" and they don't look right to me. The Enkei RPF1 in bright silver paint looks better than the higher cost SBC.
I really like the Advanti S1 I posted, but they are only gravity cast. I read this from a member of the Ecotec Miata Club when doing a search.

"Not that strong..... I've owned 2 sets. One was completely bent (all 4). The second set only saw one track day. They had so much flex that they allowed my inner side wall to rip on my coilover hat.....
============
So I am in the investigation stage and want to buy a set of wheels and tires in the next 4 weeks.
So far I like the "forged" Volk wheels that Phat pointed me to but I can't find them in the states with the black centers .

None of the cool stuff is stateside brother. Get with the Japanese importers to bring a set over, Rod @ Tetsuya Garage, Max @ REV9, or Bill @ MiataRoadster

I would suggest moving fast on the Volks. They are discontinuing most sizes, and 15x8 4x100 in some styles are on stock exhaustion.

You should be able to navigate for the most part?
Unsolicited advice...stay with a wheel you can replace fairly easily, or buy 5 instead of 4. I stayed on my Watanabes a long time, did street and track with them, but it was always in the back of my head that they ARE wear items and will need to be replaced sooner than later. A rare/expensive/forged wheel is great for many reasons, but you know how terrible the roads are around Michigan. Hell, the roads are terrible around most of the US.
There are different ways to strengthen a wheel during manufacturing (different forging processes), so consider that.
As mentioned in the comment above, some of those Volks are going to be discontinued, so a bent/cracked wheel leaves you with an odd set (like Bryan), and replacing it is a tricky proposition.
The bend versus break argument gets you home but a repaired wheel is compromised structurally.
I don't know that I would be so concerned with weight so much as offset and steering dynamics. Try to keep it under 15 pounds, and you will be fine.

Thanks KFJ, good points I did not consider.
