It's been a while since I last posted but I'll try to make up for that. Photobucket annoyance to deal with too.
Anyway, a short while ago I found I couldn't open the drivers door. Now under most circumstances this wouldn't have been an issue as I'd be able to go round the other side of the car and open up the passenger door. However, the last time I pulled into the garage, I left as much space as I could on the drivers side meaning I couldn't open the passenger door sufficiently to get in. I tired hooking the inner door handle with a piece of wire, but this also did not open the door. Eventually I managed to disengage the parking brake with a kids broom and push the car out of the garage allowing access from the passenger side.
It turns out that a previous owner had central locking installed and the drivers door solenoid had jammed up. I set about removing said solenoid, and once done, did the same on the passenger side.
It then struck me that as I had both doors semi stripped, maybe this was the time to replace doorcards, retrovate from electric to manual windows and add a couple of other trinkets I've collected over the years.
Let the fun begin...

Nice work Mike! WD40 is magic and works best against the old butyl goo

Manual regulators installed and glass fitted after installing the window glass weather strips. All lubed up with Shin-Etsu.
Butyl and vapour barrier installed. I cut two circular disks from 2mm acrylic to cover the speaker openings and attached that with outdoor double sided tape.
Foam and vinyl fitted to forever door cards and opening cutouts to suit fitment.
Maybe I wasn't careful enough when removing the drivers side door card as almost all of the screw posts on the upper bolster were damaged and broken.
Seems a common problem that had been solved before. Thanks to Rmarier on another forum who previously 3D printed some sleeves to fit over the broken posts and epoxied them in place for his door card restoration. Very thoughtfully he shared the .stl file to Thingiverse and I could easily get a few printed in ABS. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2482054
Damaged bit cut away with the Dremel and ready for the sleeve to be epoxied on.
Test fit before a liberal dose of epoxy was applied.
These screwed up really well to the door cards using the OEM screws.

Those 3D printed items are a great idea - I'll have to see who can print them over here.
