Damnit, of course plan it for when I'm not here, lol
^^better get your pimp on...you're going to a wedding right? stormy season, good to get into blankets...end that dry spell
Trying to get a read...if I wanted to change out the oil pan seal and rear main seal, how many could help me get it done?
might be getting there late but i'm down to help. never done this ish on a piston engine before but i'm sure it can't be much different.
Pull engine/tranny together, separate, remove fly and clutch, put engine on stand, remove and clean pan, replace seal, maybe install new clutch. Button up, reinstall, burp, done.
If this is too much, say so and I'll leave the Valdez for my NC/ATL homies.
i've done it many a times on a FC rotary, and it's NOT different at all. lets do this.
That's totally doable. I'll be hitting the track tomorrow so I won't be able to help till late.
But steves who's gonna talk me out of my wild plans now? Everyone else is an enabler.
Im actually doing my rear main and oil pan tomorrow come to think of it.
I would tremendously appreciate any help! I know it's a big job, but with help, we can get this done and it would be a huge relief for us!
I ordered a clutch and flywheel today. If someone helping me has a 1.6, I will give you my 8# Fidanza flywheel!
Gimmie a time and place.
I stripped 3 of the 6 Pressure plate bolt holes installing my motor today...
Ended up just red loctiting them in place for now. Lol.
Everytime I click on this thread..
HUGE thanks to Rob, Dustin, Emmi, Paul, Jesse, and Sean.
Worked on Tina's NB at Rob's. Outer tierods, lower ball joints, upper boots. Tracked down a rattle the car has had since we bought it to an untensioned idelr pulley on the timing belt. Tensioned it and buttoned up the car.
All seemed great and I started the long drive home about 11:45 pm. I get on the 605 and the car dies suddenly. Pulled it over and made a call.
Rob, Dustin and Sean came to my location. I have roadside, but I couldn't find the number. Rob used his service and had my car towed back to his place. We diagnosed the timing belt jumped A LOT. Everyone dove in and tore apart the front of the car, re aligned the belt and buttoned it up. We left Rob's about 3am. Rob sounded like he was about to lose his voice.
I am so grateful for friends like you guys! It makes me realize what I mean to KINOD and how I am going to miss you.
The car was fine. The CEL came on about the same place on the 605 where it died. The idle was REALLY bad, but it drove fine. I got home at 4am and did some internet troubleshooting until I passed out around 4:30.
I figured it was a clogged intake. Tom had a few over at his house today and I took apart the manifold to clean it. I used his bluetooth OBD2 scanned and cellphone app to get the codes for the CEL (AWESOME device!), it was telling me I was running lean and the second O2 sensor wasn't registering. As i was buttoning up the manifold, I found I forgot to plug in the 2nd o2 sensor last night!
Cleared the codes, manifold is nice and clean, new steering parts, corrected timing belt...yup, I think Tina's 10ae is ready to drive cross-country! Tina says she owes you all a hug...
Steve, I wish you and Tina the best of luck and happiness. It was a real pleasure knowing you all these years. Stay cool always buddy!
