    Cool 1990 White Miata

Alright, kids. My plan was to build this car to compete in NASA Spec Miata, but I've come to accept that my dreams of being a mad tyte racing driver are pretty hard to achieve, so I want to buy a more comfortable (4 door, a/c) and responsible car. This car will never be what I want it to be, so I don't want to keep depressing myself. lol My hope is to buy a BG Chassis (1990-1994) Mazda Protege 4WD or LX with the potential monies from this car, if anybody would like to have her. Here's the mod list and some pics.

1990 Miata Base Model - About 170k kilometers (a hair under 106k miles) on the clock. No a/c, de-powered steering rack, fairly sparse interior (no carpet, no radio, etc). Services were up to date according to the previous owner when I bought the car two years ago at 82k miles. She's got a bit of an oil leak (probably the CAS) but it's a slow one. The top is shot, but amazingly doesn't let a lot of moisture in, despite the large holes. The paint is a $50 special. It' needs a new paint job if you want it to look good. If you buy it to be a track slut, then it doesn't matter. lol The stickers are obviously easily removed as well.

-eBay Coilover sleeves (came with the car)
-BSI Racing Spec Miata Exhaust (I have the stock system as well)
-Custom made Spec Miata style intake (I have the stock intake from afm to snorkel)
    -Rennemetal Tow Hooks F&R
-NACA ducted quarter windows (I have the stock glass)
-Axxis/ULT brake pads with Napa blank rotors.
-There's NB 15s on the car now, but just bought new tyres for them and I want them for the Protege. I have the stock daisies with usable but close to worn out Kumho economy tyres.
    -Recently replaced shifter bushings.
-Clutch hydraulics to be replaced soon.

-Custom-made "half cage" by Blue Star Fabrication of Orlando, FL. It's made of 1.5 x.095 DOM tubing, poorly painted white by me, wrapped in SFI roll bar padding and it needs two small welds finished on the feet of the main hoop. I haven't tracked or driven the car aggressively knowing that. It's just my 3 miles a day daily driver at this point. It may be a tight squeeze (built for me, a 5' 9" guy who has stubbly legs) for taller folks, but you could just cut it out and replace it with a Hard Dog bar if you wish. The feet of the rear supports end up right where a HDHC would end up.

I think that's everything. This car is a great daily, returning an average of 35mpg and has never given me trouble. She runs like a top. This could be your next Miata in a collection, your track slut or a Lemons/ChumpCar competitor if you like.

    Pre-roll bar. ;)

    Thanks for looking!

Someone throw out a number so I can confidently sell? lol I found a super rare Protege 4WD and would like to scoop it up. If not, I guess I can just sell it to Treasure coast Miata and they'll part it out.

I would say around the ball park of $3500 tp $5500. It would be a good chassis, since the motor will need to be rebuilt. It will need some work to be a great car. if id does ok, it is somewhere in the back of the field for Spec Miata as it sits. I paid about $9,000 for a fully built SCCA Spec Miata and blew the motor in the first race (driver school, motor kept over heating, long story). But after motor and some work, I was about 12,00 dollar invested. I'm a mid pack racer. I have the motor and car, but I'm a slight weight disavantage (driver is 200 lbs).

Thanks for your input! You really think it's worth that much?

I do. If it was a full caged car, SCCA and NASA comiant, with a good rebuilt motor from someone like ISC or Race Engineering, then you could look at getting around the 10k mark. The cage now isn't really much, it does add some value but not much. A full Miata with interior with the mileage, I Say about $2500. No interior, $2100. With the roll bar support (roll over protection) I say 3500 then. The bar you have now isn't much, more or less for roll over. There is also stock suspension, which will need to be replaced and other stuff. I put a high price tag like 5k and see what happens the top will must likely come off for a hard top and other things.

A friend of mine sold a 91 that was crap, needed tone of suspension, transmission, and motor work done to it. It drove like crap and really rough on the driver. Not suited for daily driver at all. He sold it for about $2600 with 220k miles. I wouldn't pay over 1200 for it. I told him he was only going tO get $1600 for it and sold it higher than what I thought. You can get more. You need to find the right person. The forums are not the best place since all of us know what a Miata can go for and how much we can trust members arms. I sold a crashed 93, frame damaged in the front but stil straight, us rear end frame damage, with no wheels and got 1600 for it. No motor mods and only a new Robinson top. I had a ad on Club Roadster and everyone was bashing me over it and they won't pay 500 buck and it was just parts and this and that. I came out ahead and the car is being rebuilt for a daily driver.
