Jinba ittai 人馬一体 Horse and Rider as One

Some people asked me what's up with the Samurai riding the horse in my avatar? I forget that not everyone knows the history behind that so this video will help sum that up for you, enjoy!

Jinba ittai (人馬一体), "person [and] horse [as] one body") is a Japanese four-character compound describing unity of horse and rider which is pertinent to Yabusame, Japanese mounted archery. The term was used in the development of the Mazda MX-5 Miata to describe a driver's connection with the car.

A horse and rider communicate through feeling. The horse adjusts its gait to allow the archer to release his arrow. We aim to create the same relationship between car and driver. When the car and driver are in perfect harmony, driving is fun.

If we use technology such as electromyograms and G sensors, we can gather data. For instance, the location of the shift lever, whether it's more in the front, off to the side, or further back, will determine what muscles are used to operate it. We need to balance the amount of strength needed to feel "oneness". It's a feeling I want you to have even when you drive to the shops. You'll be surprised by how it responds. You'll experience it the first time you take the wheel. The feeling of being one with your car.

Drivers tell me: "I wish I'd discovered this a long time ago." "This car changed my life!" They're that impressed! Experience it for yourself. Then you'll know what I'm talking about.
