    MiB 3 Miatas in Boone 2012: A life changing good time

    The people, the cars, the roads, the driving, everything about Miatas in Boone 3 absolutely blew my mind. I've been on vacations all over the world, but NOTHING can compare to the amount of fun I had in these 5 days.

    On the 5th day Kristin and I left Boone at around 12:00 for the long drive north back to NJ and as we were headed towards 81 North we managed to stumble onto one of the roads that we took on Wednesday with the group. As we got to the end of that road and turned off, it hit us that the best vacation of the 6+ years we've been together was over and if I'm totally honest it got a bit misty in the car for a minute.
    From the moment we arrived Tuesday night we were accepted with open arms into an existing family of friends and I will absolutely never forget how good that felt. To be welcomed like that and just instantly start making friends, talking shop, and blasting up/down mountains was more than I could have ever expected from this or any trip. There aren't enough adjectives to describe how unbelievably awesome of a time we had at this event.

    Parts 3 and 4 are up...


    3 is a laid back cruise and 4 is the hardest I'd run thus far keeping up with a supercharged NB with twice the horsepower

    In the autocross class I run in (STR) you're allowed to do big brake kits but you're not allowed to do proportioning valves, one of the things that happens when you run stiffer springs (4x the OEM spring rate in my case) is that the car no longer nose dives which normally unloads the rear tires. The stock braking system can then benefit from some extra rear brake bias so I have the rear brakes off of an 03' turbo Miata which have a bigger piston in the caliper which will clamp harder and the rotors (which are DBA's) are bigger which acts as a longer lever. The end result was my max braking G going from .9 - 1.2 which is just awesome. At some point I'll get the matching DBA front rotors but I have a few other things planned before those




    Oh and also...


    Parts 5 and 6 are up...

    5 has the camera facing rearwards at Thumper which really shows the camber and elevation changes of these roads and 6 is an assault on US 221 which has some insane sequences of corners.
