How much gas should I have in car when having it corner weight balanced ?
How much gas should I have in car when having it corner weight balanced ?
My thoughts would be half a tank by volume. If you balanced it while it was full it would be off anytime the tank is not full. And when you're almost empty it would be off by a full tanks worth of weight. If you did it when it was empty it would always be off. If it's balanced at halfway, it would be off when it is at any level other than half, but the degree that it would be off would be less severe. I would like thoughts on my way of thinking though. Anyone?
^ That's what I was told, and did. half a tank (or close to it) should be your aim! I just found out (the hard way )that it applies to a proper alignment also.
96 Montego, replacing a 95M... I miss: My running peeps in Tampa, running barefoot @ Clearwater Beach and First Choice BBQ, in Brandon. In So Cal I miss: The Malibu Canyons, CA 33 and In & Out Burgers ! I'm from Tampa, if I was from Tampa Bay, I'd be a fish!
Thanks. I did not have a clue so now I will aim for half a tank of gas.
Did you call Performance Chassis, or do you have someone local to you who can do it?
I have not contacted anyone yet Tony. I plan on raising my cad a little this weekend. Then drive it for another week. I only work 4 miles away from home. That will give it time to settle. Then if I like the adjust height. I'm getting weight balanced and alignment most likely at performance because no place in Smithfield does custom alignment nor do they do corned weight.
I just called them to get a price and the person that can give me a price was on another call so suppose to call me back and then I can get pricing and see if I need to make an appointment.
Yeah, they do a lot of autocross and track prep. Usually pretty busy. Andrew is who I usually deal with, and he is great!
I would say just corner balance the car with the same setup as you plan on doing your performance driving with. So for example, if you plan on autocrossing with 1/4 tank of gas, get it corner balanced that way. If you do lots of track days, and you like to keep at least 3/4 of a tank to prevent fuel starvation at high g's, then corner balance it that way.
