Aside from the cars and coffee that takes place at the first of the month, is there any other miata club prescience in this area?

Morrisville, NC and Wake Forest are in the first of the month. I should be at the Morrisville one. I know it's a couple of hours away though.
Some very clicky FB groups in the area...
I work up in Charlotte generally Mon-Fri nights, but only go to and from work lol...

Oh, Morrisville! I don't know why I read that as Mooresville

Just spent a week in the mountains for Miatas in Boone, about 1000 miles of full-throttle driving - it was glorious! Firmly driving-focused though, not a Cars & Coffee type of event.
Imontalto, where in the Charlotte area are you? I've got the usual sticky dash syndrome in my 91BRG, I'd love to see your reworked dash in person.

Here's my BRG just cleaned up after the event. Bone stock other than Cocomats, Nardi shift knob from an NB, 95M BBS, and cloth top.

Throwing myself in this thread, I'm in CLT as well!
Funny, the event has morphed a bit in the last few years. On my first MiB four years ago (this year's was the 8th annual event), there were maybe 50-75 cars of varying abilities, and a large number of publicly organized rides, including some decidedly scenic rather than high-intensity, others that included nearby hikes or a bike ride on the Virginia Creeper Trail, etc. That year and in 2015 (the "Monsoon in Boone"), there was at least one publicly posted ride each day, and often two or three.
In fact, it got a little too large and organized for the founders, who expressly wanted it to be about driving, not organized social activities, etc. So this year you had the opposite situation - a lot of queries from newbies about "what time are the rides, who's leading?" etc., and there was pretty much just one response - show up by 8:00 at the main hotel parking lot (Highland Hills Motel), get to know some folks, find some skill levels and setups similar to yours (naturally aspirated or boosted; stock suspension or high end; very good summer tires or 8-9" 200TW), and go.
This year was an odd year for me in that I missed the primary weekend days, so I'm not sure on totals. I had a great all-day ride on Tuesday with 6 cars I knew well from past years (guys from SC, NC and NJ), another great ride on Thursday with those same 6 or so, plus 4-5 others I knew (Charlotte and TN) and some newbies (FL, NY and Ontario!!), then a quiet Friday morning breakfast run with just three other cars. All were Miatae other than one oddball Mustang by a guy who's currently between Miatas.
Just as the largest numbers of folks were arriving for the weekend, I split off for two days of golf with my dad and brother - two separate annual trips just happened to coincide in Boone this year for me.
Here are several maps posted by the founder (goes by 7thSon on miata.net). I didn't do any of his runs this year because he's far above my ability, but he shared these for others to use. If you're not basically a semi-pro driver with world-class suspension and tires, you can't keep up with him (and won't get invited to try). I did end up doing part of his Sunday run after family left town, saw about 20 Miatas and one MiataKart.
Wednesday Bedhead Breakfast Run
Friday Black Ops Run
Saturday Breakfast Linville to The Snake
Sunday Blind Kenny Run
If you're into hard-core Miata driving, it is THE event to schedule your vacation around each year. Closed Facebook group is here:

Or just cover it in leather like me...
Honestly, that's what I should have done to start. I just scraped all of the gunk off and sanded for an eternity, and then repainted it. I picked up some tricks that should make yours easier than mine though.

Just traveled down the rabbit hole that is the Moby build thread - quality work, man, well done. Very impressive!
