    RX-8... Convert from 28 to 31 spline?

OK, so I'm starting to plan my build. I've been checking out V8 Roadster's site and they say that you can use a 28-spline T-bird or Mark VIII carrier. OR a Cobra 31-spline carrier.

Is it possible to buy a 28-spline Mark VIII carrier and convert it to 31-spline? Is it as simple as getting a 31-spline differential? Are there different bearings and seals involved?

BTW, I am planning on taking it to the strip with slicks so I want the extra insurance that the 31-splines provide.

    Thanks,
    Ben

the Ford 8.8 31 spline is proven to be bulletproof in the racing community and because you drive the RX-8 where top end power is most at redline I think this will be the best choice for your set up. For drag racing however IRS suspension is not the best choice.

I should have said earlier... I'm not talking about stock drivetrain. I'm talking about with a built 6.0L LS. I'm also building it to be an all-around performer. Not exclusively for drag-strip runs.

Yes, you can upgrade or down grade the posi unit. Most major parts outlets carry a wide array of options.
