    Roll Bar Weights

I had access to a couple of roll bars, so I bought a scale and took weights. All weights were found by weighing myself, then myself with the roll bar, then subtracting my weight.

    M1 HDHCDD: 43 lbs
    M1 HDHCSD: 39.3 lbs
M2 HDSportDD (with Zerek Fabrications harness bar welded in): 34.9 lbs

Hard Dog backing plates and hardware: 5.1 lbs

One is borrowed, one is the roommates and mine is the pretty/lightweight one.

I can weigh my Hard Dog Hard Bar if I remember to as well.

Probably half that since they are aluminum.

Likely not pure aluminium, but 6063 aluminium alloy. Carbing state their alloy bars are 45% lighter than the steel versions; the steel bars use 2mm thick tubing, alloy bars use 2.3mm.

On that note, hard dog uses 3mm walls, 1.5" diameter for sport bars, 1.75" for hard core bars.

According to MotoIQ, the Blackbird Fabworx GT3 weighs in at 42 lbs

The HDHCDDHT I have was around the 42 pound mark if memory serves. Pretty hefty, but negated somewhat since I no longer have a soft top. It still was a pretty noticeable weight gain though.

I know this may be a little off subject. But I have a HCHDDD and I like it and all but have have always had a gripe with it restricting the movement of my seat. I have considered changing it out for one that will allow full adjustments or close to it.

I am a big fan of how the Japanese rollbars look but I am not sure if they are as durable as the ones offered here in the US. Any input on this would be much appreciated. But of course if this kind of takes this thread off course I can just go and start another one.

In keeping with my lightweight OEM+ build philosophy, that M2 sport is an interesting proposition at 22lbs. I'm concerned about rearward visibility, have no need for a harness bar, and while I was seriously considering the Deuce, at 20lbs heavier... hrm.

I know Blackbird is seemingly more popular right now, and have read that fitment is better. I'm wondering what they offer that may be more inline with the M2 Sport?

Moti doesn't offer any roll bar without at least a single diagonal. So a single diagonal NA or NB(comes with a harness bar as standard and of course is compatible with a glass window softtop) from Blackbird Fabworx would be the closest.
