I have an idea of how I'm going to make my shorty console.

I was going to ask about the shorty console as well. Pardon the dumb question, but could you cut up a stock one and modify it using fiberglass to fit the window switches?

I think that's what he did. Kind of looks like he cut it up and did something of that sort.

yeah, i believe thats pretty much what you do. maybe use some bondo or the like to make everything smooth.

I had a spare broken console, so I hacked it up with a dremel and hacksaw, then used a propane torch to "weld" the plastic back together (and developed some real nice burns/callouses on my thumbs during that project!). I used a very small amount of Bondo to smooth out the place where I had cut-and-joined it together, then painted it all black. The most recent addition (the lip at the bottom edge) was done with some "Rapid Fix" glue and scrap ABS plastic. This was MUCH EASIER than using the propane torch to bond the plastic together.
I actually have a thread of the process on another forum or two. I will try to remember to transfer some of that data to MazdaRoadster this afternoon.

Just saw your thread. These look good. Are they just cosmetics for your dash?

I suppose you could hang your dog tags on them but yes, pretty much aesthetic only.
They look real nice. I wish I could lay CF
Thanks. Me too!

And I also just realized I posted in an NA thread by mistake.
It's okay. I won't ban you... this time.
Thanks!
Wait a second....
I'll just list a few of the things I did myself...
Headlights modified from a 240 sx (s13) fixed headlight kit from ebay (old pic from when I just completed it)
Stereo system install
rear taillight modification/flushmount - basically remade/filled in a "altezza euro tail" & molded it into a finish panel; reverse light is mounted under the cut bumper
belt-line shave & bumper light shave - well, ok, I'm still working on this one...
