    MR.net 1/4 Mile Database

I know there are a few of us here that take their cars out to the drag strip. Post up your times and a basic list of mods.

I haven't taken my car down the track yet but will be going on October 19th and am curious to see what everyone else has been running. With a 1.8 swapped & FM Turbo'd '91 I'm aiming for high 13's since it'll be my first time down the track. I think the car can do better than that but it'll mostly be up to me as a driver.

    Let's see some times!

I never ran my old '96 turbo Roadster down a 1/4 track, but I did run on a 1000' strip - 11 flat @ 99mph. It had an FM3 turbo that they sold for a while, and a Link ecu, Racing Beat catback with a test pipe. I was running 195 street tires and my 60' time something like 2.2 seconds.

I will start off with my first set up. Car was a 95 base model with somewhat mild weight reduction, full JR exhaust with home built test pipe, Centerforce clutch, lighter flywheel, removed air filter box and replaced with large K&N cone, bumped timing, Mickey Thompson 20x8x14 slicks, NOS dry nitrous system and booster fuel pump. Motor was bone stock with stock ECU. Time slip is dated July 1996

    60' time: 1.767
    1/8 time: 8.308
    1/8 MPH: 81.42
    1/4 time: 13.166
    1/4 MPH: 99.66

Car at the time had a best MPH of 100.91 on another run, but only ran a 13.243. It also ran best 60' of 1.71 at Lakeland's 1/8 mile track before I took it to Bradenton's 1/4 mile. If you are wondering why I was running a stock ECU, there were no affordable ones at the time.

Fast forward to the set up I had before I tore it down:

Same car with much more weight reduction, but the car still appeared stock with stock carpet, seats, steering wheel, etc. Motor was 12:1, ported 99 head with springs and big valves, electric water pump, bigger than stock cam (pretty mild though), 45mm Weber carbs on a modified Pierce manifold to fit 99 head, 4.44:1 gear with welded carrier, Mickey Thompson 22x8x15 on Bogart wheels, skinnies on the front. There was no nitrous on this set up.

    60' time: 1.816
    1/8 time: 8.476
    1/8 MPH: 80.50
    1/4 time: 13.389
    1/4 MPH: 99.70

I am building something way more serious at the moment.

Is this your Miata? Or am I confused? Sixshooter posted this on the local forum....

How about a build thread here on MazdaRoadster so the members can see some more of your handywork?

Yes, that is it! I will definitely start a build thread soon. I hope the members here are patient. It is taking a little longer than I hoped.

Here is a good look of the fronts. Post #4 shows a rear still mounted. I rolled the whole subframe out from under the car before applying paint.

Surely there are some guys other than me that have made a few passes down the drag strip. Post them up. Don't be shy!

I called Bogart Racing directly. You will have to do some measuring, but they supply you with all the info needed to take proper measurements. They will then make a set for you. My fronts are 15x4 and the backs are 15x7. I would like to get another pair of 15x8s for a bigger tire I plan to use.

You will have to use a spacer on the front wheels so they clear the brakes. You will have to install long wheel studs.

That is a whole lot faster than you predicted. Not bad for your first go around.
