someone would want to take the southern route for sure to drive that thing home! I'd say it pretty much has to be an out of California state buyer because of their goofy rules on back pay for registration to whoever buys it if it is a california resident (Only state I know who does that crap because they want their money!)

we should all put some money convince the owner to sell the car. then we organize a tech day and modify this car to adapt a Jacuzzi inside with a big loud stereo sound and some weird looking paint with MR logo. Can you picture this in a miata?

I have no love for this. But I never like stretched cars. Built for weddings and hens nights. I'm thinking of drunks rolling in and out, as it has no rear doors. LOL. You couldn't put a full top on it and get rear access. Take up a lot of garage space. Worst miata I've ever seen.
