My name is John, and I have neglected my Miata for far too long.

Hey guys. Newbie to the forum, here. I have had my '94 Laguna blue for around 10 years. Bought her with some light mods, but she definitely didn't stay that way. Ended up lightened (2150 lbs), boosted (around 270 rwhp), with lots of handling mods. Looked like this:

    391873_2423823630098_1086710880_32160750_399152978_n.jpg

Long story short, the boost bug got to me. 12 psi was great, but 15 psi on race gas was better! LOL. Eventually the rings went. So, I swapped in used motor. Those rings went shortly after. So I built a motor. Spent some good money on it, too. Lasted 2K. Cylinder walls were polished and the pistons scored top and bottom. Needless to say, I was a bit burnt out at that point. Sold the turbo stuff off, put a junk motor in, but never finished the install. It sat like that for 2-3 years. But now I am back at it. Car will stay NA, and be my occasional street, yet very track oriented, car. Only the essentials. Will be a mix of modern and vintage throughout the car. Got the old lump out, and putting the new, fresher block in. Hope to have it running this spring, and will slowly be working its way to the final goal.

BTW, if you were, or are, on M.net or Clubroadster, I am the one formally known as Spyhunter.

Sounds like you had a pretty epic build for a while. Nothing wrong with staying NA! Welcome to MR.

oh wow I was wondering what happened to you, you pretty much seemed to disappear for a while there, glad you are back. The more I hear about turbo's eating engines the more I lean towards a V8R install.

It wasn't the turbo's fault. It was mine. Boost lust got the best of me. FM warns that anything past 12 psi, on a stock bottom end, will reduce engine life. I can vouch for that. LOL! Part of the reason the car has sat so long is that I was contemplating a LSX swap of some sort. I have decided to scrap that for now, and just go with a "stock" motor. But the pull of all that power, without the extra heat from the turbo, on a road course? Definitely sounds fun!
